As you know, a new two-storey sports pavilion is being built at Pinks Reserve, Kilsyth (value around $5.3M). This new facility comprises six change rooms and amenities, along with first aid and gym facilities. The first floor, which is accessible by the lift located in the entry lobby, will house the community social room that showcases unobstructed views of Pinks Reserve. This level will also feature a large semi-commercial kitchen and servery, viewers balcony, and scorer rooms for each oval. Externally, spectator viewing areas will be available, and associated hard and soft landscaping will be completed.

The Pinks Reserve Community & Sporting Pavilion project is a community driven project with wide and in-depth support from the Local community and the wider sporting community that connects and links all of the surrounding suburbs of Kilsyth and beyond.

The previous facilities were in relatively poor condition and did not conform to current codes or standards. The size and functionality of the previous pavilion was restricting growth in sporting participation and other community uses. The demolition of the previous pavilion building and the construction of the new pavilion will see a purpose made fully accessible facility that will optimise use, increase patronage, and provide a meeting and social space for the community as a whole.

The new community sports pavilion will support the core sporting needs of football and cricket and other community groups for the next 50+ years. This project will provide a permanent home for sport and recreation groups in Kilsyth, whilst complementing the existing community facilities in the reserve and broader area.

The new community sports pavilion will be a contemporary facility which fits in with the current and future development works of the reserve and is physically and functionally aligned to the playing fields and all surrounding activities.

The Builder is trying to finalise his work so the Cricket Club will be in possession for the opening of the cricket season. That means all catering equipment that needs installing must be on-site before this. This is approximately $40,000.00 worth of equipment. All other catering equipment, tables, chairs, pots/pan, cutlery, crockery, kitchenware etc. still need to be purchased. Quotes for tables and chairs alone are approximately $16,000.00.

Kilsyth Cricket Club, Kilsyth Senior and Junior Football Clubs are each contributing $33,333 (a total of $100,000) towards the build as original cost estimates have increased due to delays caused by Covid-19 and inflation. In addition to that, the cost of the fit-out will also be borne by the occupants (our fundraising goal is $80,000) with new 3 door refrigerator and catering/cook facilities required to meet new specifications as part of the contract agreement.

Donations for fit-out: We have a long way to go with our fund raising efforts but have made a good start with about 6% of required funds raised so far (every dollar counts). Thank you to those who have already donated. Your support is very much appreciated.

Anyone wishing to make a tax-deductible donation (donations of $2 or more) for this financial year, the ASF (Australian Sports Foundation) asks that you make this prior to 28th June for their processing.

Of course, our fundraiser continues so if you donate after this date your tax deduction will be for the next financial year.

As mentioned in previous posts, every $50 in donations will score you a raffle ticket entry to win $200 worth of Sporting Globe Vouchers. This opportunity will run until approximately 31 July 2023.

By donating, taxpayers can pay less tax and at the same time help the Club. The fundraiser is audited by the ASF to make sure funds are allocated as promised – that is equipment for the fit-out of the pavilion.

We look forward to seeing you all at the grand opening!
