Kilsyth CC is delighted to announce that former Kilsyth player David Rochford has been appointed Senior Coach of the Club for Season 2018/19. We welcome David back to KCC and also extend a warm welcome to David’s wife Sally and their three children, Tash, Benji and Jai.

We also congratulate Jarrod McPhee who has been appointed Captain of the First XI whilst the Club’s Captain Coach of the past two seasons, Matt Clark, has stepped down but will continue as a key player. We thank Clarky for his leadership over the last two years both on and off the field and look forward to him continuing as a top order batsman and handy medium pace bowler for the First XI.

David Rochford played all his junior cricket at Kilsyth where he was awarded Best Team Man in the U14’s in 1991/92 when Kilsyth was Runner-Up to Ringwood. In 1993-94 he won the RDCA U16-4 Batting Average (34.0) and in 1998-99 won the RDCA’s One Day Grade Batting Average with an average of 119.5 when Kilsyth lost the Grand Final narrowly to Croydon Ranges. In 1997-98 and 1998-99 David was selected in the RDCA Under 21 Representative Team.

David transferred to Chirnside Park CC taking that Club’s First XI to a premiership in his first year as Coach in 2002/03. Rochy returned to Kilsyth as Assistant Coach in 2004/05 when Mark Unternahrer was Captain Coach and the Redbacks made the Preliminary Final in Chandler Shield (now Trollope Shield) against Templeton. In that Final David opened the batting and top scored with 39 for Kilsyth. A top order left handed batsman, Rochy played 40 senior games for Kilsyth scoring 983 runs at an average of 28.1 with a highest score of 130, as well as 5 half centuries and a best bowling performance of 4/34.

David then returned to Chirnside Park and won the 1st XI Batting Averages in 2005/06 & 2006/07 and in 2008/09 played in that Club’s Newey Plate Premiership Team. In all he coached Chirnside Park CC for 3 years and played around 110 1st XI games at CPCC, making over 2,500 runs.

Rochy is currently Football Operations Manager at the Kilsyth Football Club and professionally he runs his own successful business, Laguna Pools. Very popular and well respected, David will fit in well at Kilsyth where his leadership, experience and ability to teach the skills of the game will be of great benefit to all players.

David and the Club are really looking forward to the season ahead. Anyone who wishes to join Kilsyth Cricket Club will receive a warm welcome. Our AGM is on Monday 4th June starting at 7.30pm at the Clubrooms at Pinks Reserve. Pre-season training details will be published in due course on this site.
